Southleigh House is a thatched property set in grounds of approximately half an acre in the Suffolk village of Hundon about three miles from Clare.
The garden at Southleigh was originally laid out in the 1970s but it is a garden under development. It has been created entirely by the owners who maintain the garden themselves.
The garden has been opening under the National Gardens Scheme for four years now to raise money for charity and it is in the prestigious Yellow Book. Other charity events have included Hundon Open Gardens and a Busking Cancer fund-raising event for Cancer Research UK in 2011. There is more about this event on the Busking for Cancer page. Monies raised at this latter event are approaching £3,000. If you would like to make a donation, you can still do so via www.justgiving.com/Mike-Laycock/.
The owners welcome visitors to the garden on Open Days. The garden will be opening again under the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday 23 June 2013.
